An articulating arm with a metal ratcheted handle. The ratchet lets you tighten in short strokes and then reset the handle to any angle it suits you to leave it, so it never ends up jammed against a wall or hanging in the shot — the reason to reach for this one when you are clamping into a confined space. The handle controls the tension on all three joints in the arm.
Back it off slightly and the arm still holds, so you can nudge a light or camera into position without taking its weight. Tighten it and all three movements lock together.
Both ends carry a 5/8″ (16mm) ball-joint stud that pivots through 90° and rotates a full 360°, so the stud can sit square to the arm or in line with it. One stud is tapped 3/8″, the other 1/4″. Each has six milled flats to stop a mounted accessory rotating, and both drop straight into a baby socket. The centre elbow rotates a full 360° on thermoplastic friction discs with an anti-slip rosette pattern.
